Steep mountain pastures, not only in Vorarlberg but all over the Alpine region, are being less and less cultivated as the yield compared to the manual labour, which is needed to harvest hay from these pastures, is too low. Increasing stretches of land are overgrown and impair the image of the landscape. In order to make it attractive for landowners and farmers to cultivate those steep mountain pastures, added value is needed.

AlpBioEco – Valorisation of innovative bio-economical potentials along bio-based food & botanical extract value chains in the Alpine Space

13 project partners in 5 Alpine countries work together for an innovative sustainable development in the Alpine space. We focus on the potential of bioeconomy in the value chains of herbal foods and essences. AlpBioEco contributes to the framework conditions for innovation, resulting in eco-innovative business ideas and concepts for small and medium-sized enterprises in the Alpine region.
