POWER4BIO cross-visit to South Bohemia, Czech Republic

On November 30 and December 1, the next POWER4BIO online cross-visit to South Bohemia, Czech Republic, will take place. On the first day, high-level speakers from Czech ministries, administration bodies, industry and academia are going to present and discuss the political and economic support of bioeconomy, research and education activities in the Czech Republic and South Bohemia. Several projects and initiatives will give an introduction to their activities in the field of bioeconomy, also the Bioeconomy Platform for the Czech Republic will be explained to the participants.

The second day will focus on the practical part of bioeconomy and regional bioeconomic activities. Main examples of bioeconomy practice within the Czech Republic and South Bohemia will be presented as well as the practical activities and results of the work of the Regional Bioeconomy Hub (RBH) of South Bohemia. There will be a short movie presenting three good examples of bioeconomic practice within the region and main outcomes from RBH meetings.

ENABLING final conference

ENABLING final conference

The final ENABLING event is dedicated to the bioeconomy and local networks of innovation, exploring various tools and services for the biomass industry.

On Friday 13th of November, project partners will present their work and tools created throughout the project, focusing on local innovation practices, while invited speakers will explore bioeconomy’s current status in EU level.

POWER4BIO cross-visit to Andalusia, Spain – online

POWER4BIO cross-visit to Andalusia, Spain

Please note that this event will be organised as an online meeting.

From October 20 to 21, the POWER4BIO cross-visit to Andalusia, Spain, will take place online. Partners from POWER4BIO, stakeholders from the region and other European regions are invited to participate in the cross-visit. This event will provide an opportunity to regional stakeholders for the exchange of knowledge and to discuss the challenges of the bioeconomy and its implementation within other European regions and it will highlight the latest bioeconomy developments in the region of Andalusia.

The event is organised by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development (Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Desarrollo Sostenible de la Junta de Andalucía) in cooperation with the project Andalucía Agrotech DIH (Digital Innovation Hub). The cross-visit will provide a platform for dialogue with partners from POWER4BIO, stakeholders from Andalusia and other European regions in regards to current regional challenges being faced during the implementation of a circular bioeconomy in their rural and urban territories.

In the 8th and last training webinar of this POWER4BIO webinar series, we will tackle the needs, limitations and opportunities of policy instruments for the food and feed sector. We will take a closer look to policy instruments that facilitate and set requirements to the development of potential value chains. We will also present results and good policy examples from task 4.2 of the POWER4BIO project: public policies and regulation to support bio-based business models at regional level.

We will also take into account practical aspects to implement financial Instruments. We will reveal our lessons learned in the fields of loan, guarantee and equity instruments and presentation of relevant best practices.

All webinars are free of charge and open to everyone.

In the second webinar, a broad set of examples on valorisation of food processing side streams, extractions of valuable compounds from biomasses and new biomass production routes will be presented, driven by needs and opportunities within the agro-food system. Generally, these examples are oriented on cost price reduction (cheap sourcing from biomass side streams, waste reduction) and/or new markets. The examples have varying levels of technology readiness.
