Bio-economical potentials in the Alpine Region – Utilization and application of hay from extensive mountain pastures

The Regio im Walgau is conducting a workshop within the Interreg project– AlpBioEco – Valorisation of innovative bio-economical potentials along bio-based food & botanical extract value chains in the Alpine Space

Workshop

Wednesday, 13.03.2019

14:30 – 17:00 o’clock

Location: Regio imWalgau, Nenzing

Language: German

Please sign up for the Workshop and contact Gloria Kraus: kraus@sigmaringen.de

Content

Steep mountain pastures, not only in Vorarlberg but all over the Alpine region, are being less and less cultivated as the yield compared to the manual labour, which is needed to harvest hay from these pastures, is too low. Increasing stretches of land are overgrown and impair the image of the landscape. In order to make it attractive for landowners and farmers to cultivate those steep mountain pastures, added value is needed.

Workshop schedule

  • Presentation of the project AlpBioEco
  • Presentation of results:
Research on valorisation of hay from extensive mountain pastures
  • Discussion:
    Are results applicable?
What business models could be interesting?
