The wool value chain in Europe – Interactive Online Workshop

The European projects Biobridges and BIOVOICES, the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Brebey and CyberEthics Lab organised an international workshop on the wool value chain in Europe, focusing on the decision making process to support the creation of shared values and practices.

This workshop stems from a national workshop entitled “Creation of a Chain of Native Wool in Italy” held on April 21, 2020, where several challenges and bottlenecks were highlighted.

The workshop is part of the EU Green Week 2020 whose theme,  this year, is “Nature and Biodiversity”.

Main challenges

·         Fragmentation of the value chain

·         Lack of awareness and dialogue

·         Legislative and financial barriers

Expected results

·        Increased dialogue between European stakeholders to facilitate a shared and            harmonized view of the European wool value chains

·        Mobilisation and mutual learning between policy makers, bio-based                            industries, brand owners, consumer representatives and the primary sector

·       Sharing and comparison of good practices and action plans between                             European  realities, similar and different at the same time
