MPowerBIO Co-creation Workshop

MPowerBIO Co-creation Workshop

Help SMEs capture investment: Make your mark on the design of MPowerBIO’s capacity building and business support programme.

Are you an investor, an expert within the bio based industry or a representative from an SME or a cluster, than your input is highly appreciated. Join MPowerBIO’s online co-creation workshop on 29 October to make your mark on the capacity building and business support programme, which are designed to enhance the investment readiness of SMEs.

– “We are seeking input from as many different actors in the field of bio-resources as possible. It can be companies, cluster organizations, market experts and investors. In the end our programmes must ensure that companies capture investment, it is therefore crucial that our business support and training materials are relevant and to the point. Validation from users and experts will give the final quality boost”, says Britt Sandvad, Project Coordinator of MPowerBIO.

MPowerBIO is a European project that has set out to empower 90 clusters within the bio-based industry across Europe to be better equipped to help SMEs overcome the challenge of finding sufficient investment to get from idea to business.

– “By developing an online platform with digital tools our goal is to get 250 SMEs one step closer to capturing investment. And this is where your input and feedback plays an important role”, Britt continues.

– “As an investor, you know what is expected from the SMEs seeking investment, as an SME you know what the typical challenges are and which qualifications are needed, as a cluster you know what the SMEs typically are seeking advice on and so on”.

To enhance the investment readiness of SMEs, MPowerBIO will offer training modules for clusters to be better equipped to help the SMEs. SMEs will be offered concrete tools through this online platform, which will improve the investment readiness and pitching skills. Finally, MPowerBIO will connect SMEs and investors by arranging regional and international events where SMEs have the opportunity to pitch their business plan.

By participating in the workshop you will, together with other experts, have the chance to influence the shape and content of two programmes, which ultimately bring SMEs one step closer to capturing investment. In other words, your input is key in improving the investment readiness of SMEs.

About the workshop
The workshop will be conducted online on 29 October and will run for approximately 2,5 hours. During the workshop, you will be introduced to the proposed concepts and findings so far, which we will need your feedback and thoughts on. Different sessions will run during the workshop to define SMEs curriculum concept and training needs, as well as to establish the services to be delivered by clusters through the business support programme to SMEs.

Go for Grass online event – 22 October – Exploiting grassland potential in the EU Circular economy

Go for Grass online event – 22 October – Exploiting grassland potential in the EU Circular economy

Grassland and green shrubs cover 21% of the total surface of the EU-28 and as such are a key element of the regions landscape and biodiversity. Today, grass as a resource remains underutilised. It is often left to decay after mowing and thus causes costs and lost benefits for individuals and society.

At the occasion of the EU Green Week 2020, which aims to emphasise the contribution biodiversity can make to society and the economy, the GO-GRASS project will shed light on this overlooked potential during the online event ‘Go for Grass: exploiting grassland potential in the EU Circular economy’, that will take place on 22 October 2020.

This two-part online event, taking place from 10.00 to 12.00 CET and from 14.00 to 16.00 CET, will explore new business opportunities for rural areas arising from the exploitation of grassland and green fodder.

While the first session will demonstrate a range of innovative and cost-effective processes and technologies to transform grass into valuable bio-based products, the second session will afford stakeholders the opportunity to discuss various tools and resources that can foster the deployment of sustainable grassland management practices and circular business models across the EU.

The event will provide a chance for entrepreneurs, policy makers, rural networks and other European and local actors to discover a series of circular and sustainable grass-based business models with high replication potential. As such, it will offer a platform for stakeholders across Europe to present and discuss examples of circular, grass-based and integrated agro-food systems from different countries.

If you are curious to discover some of the magic recipes to transform grassland into golden nuggets and foster the deployment of the circular economy in rural areas, join our online event on 22 October !

To attend the event, please make sure to click on the button below to register, you will receive all the details to join the event per email after your registration.

For more information, do not hesitate to click here, or on the button above, to have a look at the detailed programme of this two-part online event series.

AlpBioEco Regional Advisory Board Workshop

AlpBioEco Regional Advisory Board Workshop

The EU-Interreg project AlpBioEco works on bio-based products along the food value chain in the Alpine Space, promoting bioeconomy and sustainable regional development through eco-innovative business models. Within the project, several innovative business model blueprints were developed and tested. In this process, value chains were analysed, product prototypes developed and tested, and possibilities for the implementation of the business models in different regions were evaluated. Now, in the final phase of the AlpBioEco project, all those information and project results will be transferred into implementation and policy guidelines. These guidelines will promote the implementation of selected eco-innovative business models in different regions, but also allow the transfer to of the outcomes of the project to other projects and regions in the Alpine Space. To develop these policy and implementation guidelines, AlpBioEco’s project partners work with small “Regional Advisory Boards”, that consist of local stakeholders and experts, and focus on one business model in each region. The members of the Regional Advisory Board will add their own experiences and knowledge and thus contribute to more in-depth regional guidelines.

On Monday, 12th October 2020, the Regional Advisory Board workshop of AlpBioEco’s lead project partner City of Sigmaringen will take place online. The Regional Advisory Board will work on a business model to promote the marketing and commercial use of regional walnuts in the South of Germany.

AlpBioEco Walnut Excursion to Malans & Frümsen, Switzerland

AlpBioEco Walnut Excursion to Malans & Frümsen, Switzerland

On Friday, 2nd October 2020, AlpBioEco organises a walnut excursion to Switzerland together with the project partner “BUND (Friends of the Earth Germany) Regionalverbund Ravensburg Oberschwaben”. The excursion starts with a visit to the Competence Centre in Malans, where participants learn from the walnut producer Johannes Janggen from Malans about the processing of walnuts. In the following, there will be a visit to the “Nussdorf Frümsen” with Hans Oppliger, president of the “Nussdorf Frümsen” association. Here, participants will see not only different walnut products, but Hans Oppliger will also show for instance the walnut tree as the figurehead of the village, or talk about the walnut tree in architecture and art. Furthermore, there will be a short hiking trail along the future Frümsner Baumnussweg with 10 themes. AlpBioEco is looking forward to an interesting excursion!
