Plastic, construction and bio-waste: too valuable to waste – Mannheim2020 Solution Session
Cities around Europe are piloting and implementing solutions to become more circular. Plastic, construction and bio-waste are three of the waste streams that cities are seeking to reduce or reuse due to their environmental impact and socio-economic value. In this session, we will hear the experience of three cities that have got down to the job. What have they done? What did they learn? The audience will be invited to challenge their approach. Key questions to be answered are: – What approaches are different cities taking to tackle plastic, construction and bio-waste? – Which levers do cities have to effectively close these materials loops? – Can material innovations make cities more circular? – How to turn challenges into opportunities? – Can their solutions be replicated elsewhere? The 90-minute session will be divided in a 50-minute plenary session, featuring 3 speakers (one from each the BioVoices, PlastiCircle and CityLoops projects) and three 40-min breakout sessions, divided by waste stream. All sessions will follow a classical approach (moderation-presentation-interaction), inviting the audience to interact and participate. The event is part of the Mannheim2020 Conference. BIOVOICES workshop in the context of the Asebio Investor Day – Building a green future. Would you like to invest on it?
Within the framework of the European Biotechnology Week, the Spanish Association of Bioempresas (Asebio), will organize the third edition of the investor forum, Asebio Investor Day, with 280 attendees, 57 investors from 10 different countries and more than 500 partnering meetings closed.
This year due to the circumstances in which we are because the Coronavirus, the Asebio Investor Day will be online, and like previous years it will have sessions where the current situation of the financing of biotechnological projects in early phases will be discussed and how in recent years they have been incorporated new types of investment instruments such as venture capital companies, corporate investors, crowdfunding, investors and as well as public initiatives.
As a novelty this year and due to the great importance that we believe it has the bioeconomy right now, BIOVOICES project is organizing a session within AseBio Investor Day dedicated to the bioeconomy and its possible investment, so it would be a pleasure for us that you attend this session that will take place on September 28 from 12:00 to 14:00 “Building a green future. Would you like to invest on it? “
You can do the registration here.

Biovoices workshop at ESOF 2020 – “The role of systems’ integrators in facilitating the Quadruple Helix Stakeholders collaboration to co-create a sustainable circular bioeconomy ecosystem”
In the context of ESOF2020, the BIOVOICES project is organizing an interesting workshop titled “The role of systems’ integrators in facilitating the Quadruple Helix Stakeholders collaboration to co-create a sustainable circular bioeconomy ecosystem“.
ESOF2020 Trieste will take place from 2 to 6 September 2020 and in the two weeks preceding and following the main event. The activities include meetings, conferences, seminars and public events such as shows and exhibitions. Over 4000 researchers, educators, business actors, policy makers and journalists from all over the world are expected in Trieste to discuss breakthroughs in science.
Several initiatives at European level have been launched in the last years to support the creation of an Innovation Ecosystem to promote Sustainable Circular Bioeconomy, ranging from projects funded by the European Commission (e.g. Horizon 2020 programme and BBI JU), networks at European, National and Regional level (e.g. The Bioeconomy Knowledge Center, European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, ENRD and Urban Agenda), research and industrial Clusters. These initiatives act as Innovation Ecosystem Integrators facilitating the QH Stakeholders (Research, Business, Policy, Civil Society) to collaborate and join forces to identify opportunities, address existing challenges and barriers, promoting a sustainable innovation ecosystem in bioeconomy. Nevertheless not all the stakeholders seem to have a central role in the definition of the policy and industrial agendas. Some actors, like the citizens, are not always participating as active players in driving the change, therefore a deeper reflection is needed to maximise the impact of the systems’ integrators activities to boost the innovation ecosystem. In this context the workshop will mobilise QH stakeholders to discuss how to: • transform the research outcomes into Actionable Knowledge for the Stakeholders • ensure that all the “voices” are engaged in the debate, including the civil society • find common objectives and language to facilitate the dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders • transfer knowledge and best practices between sectors and value chains • drive the change raising awareness on bioeconomy and bio-based products The workshop will build on the experience of the European Bioeconomy Network, an alliance of nearly 70 EU funded projects, initiatives promoting the Sustainable Circular Bioeconomy in Europe. The organizers are involved in projects (Biobridges, LIFT, BIOVOICES, BIOWAYS, Dandelion) having promoted more than 130 multistakeholders workshops around EU in last 3y.

How high throughput technology will accelerate your R&D in the conversion of renewables.
9th September 2020 – 3PM (CEST) on-demand
Novel chemical processes that convert renewable feedstocks into high-value products are very important, since they allow a more sustainable use of resources and foster the growth of the circular economy but selecting the correct one can be a challenge. Making this choice and identifying the best catalyst is key to develop and commercialize effective catalytic processes. In this practical and results focused webinar, we focus on how high throughput experimentation technology, an established tool to decrease time-to-market of novel developments and to generate large data for holistic insights and understanding of a catalytic process can help solve this challenge.

Bridge2Brands: FCA and Biobridges Call for Innovative Solutions
The research centre of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (CRF – FCA) is looking for circular and bio-based solutions to turn cars components more sustainable, in collaboration with Biobridges project.
The full development of a sustainable European bio-based industry would represent a suitable pathway for achieving several Sustainable Development Goals. The introduction of Bio-based products and solutions depict a great opportunity to reconcile sustainable long-term growth with environmental protection through the prudent use of renewable resources for industrial purposes.
However, introducing bio-based products and solutions in consolidated business practice of a Brand is a complex process, which does not simply require innovative technologies from the supply-side, but also regulatory and societal transformations based on a multi-actor process in which the involvement of brand owners is crucial.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, according to its last Sustainability Report, is involved in the reduction of the environmental footprint of its products by embracing the concept of the circular economy. In this process, sustainable design plays a key role, since it is committed in “selecting recycled, recycling, bio-based and/or bio-filled materials helps to reduce the overall environmental impact of the vehicles we produce ”.
Given this, a call for innovative solutions has just been issued in collaboration with the Biobridges project.
The call is targeting SOLUTION PROVIDERS of innovative BIOBASED MATERIALS.
